Saturday 15th April - walks ***** Felixstowe prom and Holywells Park, Ipswich - sunny and mild.

Our son Robert, partner Hannah with Grandson Arlo return yesterday afternoon for the second time in a week after a week in a caravan in Potter Heigham in Norfolk having many adventures. Saturday dawned sunny with light winds, Mag and I still have a few germs but it is not stopping us doing anything so for the first time since our childminding days we all have Hama Bead fun with everyone making something with Arlo going home with a sea themed mobile which Mag put together slowly with her on good hand:) We then all had a lovely walk down through the Spa gardens and back along the prom, all overdressed in the warm spring sunshine. After a quick lunch it was time for us to all drive over to Ipswich parking behind Holywells Park, with Rob and Hannah going to watch Ipswich Town FC play Charlton, Mag and I were going to have fun in the park and check the new children?s play area which has only just opened:) After saying goodbye to Rob and Hannah we did a circuit of the beautiful park, definitely one of our favourites with birds singing in the trees, soon spotting a Jay:) Then past the old stables to the Orangery and saw the bowls club was out in force so we went over to see, a very nice man playing invited us in to watch which we did for ages, it was great fun too:) Then done past the small lake and onto the play area, being a sunny Saturday it was heaving so we actually bought a couple of drinks and an ice lolly for Arlo and went and had them by the lake playing spot the rat:) Then we returned to the very crowded play area, Mag and I were not looking forward to it but it was actually really good, Arlo loved it and for the most part the other kids were really good, the only real negative was the use of mobile phones when you could have been having fun with your kids! Mag sat in the sun while I keep an eye on Arlo, we went on most of the things on offer, it was then time to walk down to Ipswich waterfront to meet up with Rob and Hannah at Pizza Express courtesy mainly to Tesco points:) It is nice walking along the marina especially the old boats and barges. We got a table in the window and waited for Rob and Hannah to arrive and were amazed to learn that Ipswich had won 6 ? 0 moving them up to second, fingers crossed they get automatic promotion, they are on fire at the moment and with only 5 games left things are looking promising! Mag and I never go out for a meal but we all really enjoyed our pizza especially as the waitress was a real joy:) We then walked back as the sun set behind the tall building and managed a walk through the park before it closed for the night, in fact the park keeper was blowing his whistle saying the park was closing as we reached the gates out! Back at the cars we said our goodbyes and headed back to Felixstowe after a great day. Now home absolutely knackered we have just heard Rob, Hannah and Arlo are at a standstill on the dreadful M 25, fingers crossed they get home soon!
